Case Study 1 Description

In Case Study 1 the school board of Edwardsville High School hired a nutritionist, Sally Mayer, to
evaluate the school lunch program and see where improvements could be made.  The school lunch program
at the time served unhealthy options such as pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken strips.  There was also potato chips and french fries offered as sides.  They did offer fruits and a salad bar to the students but they were not utilizing it efficiently.  There were three separate parts to Case Study 1 on how to go about convincing the school board.  The first part was to make a formal report that was going to be given to a school board.  In this report we described what nutritious foods were, our food program that we are going to propose, and why this is the best direction for the school lunch program to go in.  The next document that was to be prepared was a persuasive letter to the school board requesting for funding for the new healthy meal plan.  The last document that was to be made was the menu design.  This needed to be a professional looking menu that shows the healthy food options with the prices and nutritional value.  At the end of all these documents the school board will be able to accurately decide whether they should go along with our new proposed healthy school lunch program, or stick with the current one they have now.
